Project Description
Gastroenterology
Eating is not merely a pleasure, it is also a necessity. The body receives the nutrients it needs by food intake. It does this by means of the digestive system, which is formed by the oesophagus, the stomach, the liver and bile ducts, the pancreas, the small intestine (duodenum, jejunum and ileum), the colon and the rectum. When the digestive system doesn’t work properly, the body may not absorb everything it needs, or may even eliminate essential elements on which our life depends (such as blood in the stools if there is some damage to the digestive tract).
Tip: digestion begins at the mouth, so it is important to chew your food properly in order to make the stomach’s job easier.
